New Futures Waiver
The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities has released two Requests for Information (RFI) to assist with the design of the New Futures Waiver for the purpose of seeking information about organizations that perform the functions of Independent Support Brokerage and organizations that perform the functions of a Functional Behavioral Assessment Unit. During the Question and Answer period for the Requests for Information (RFI) on Independent Support Broker and Functional Behavioral Assessment Unit posted by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD), one question was received. Below is that question with the response from DODD:

Q. Can you clarify the type of work required in the RFI?

A. The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities is requesting information from organizations that perform the either (or both) of the following functions:

Functional Behavioral Assessment Unit (FBAU):

  • Duties would include (but are not limited to):
    • administering a standardized clinical assessment tool (as selected by DODD to determine if an applicant for the New Futures Waiver meets the targeted criteria for this waiver); and
    • providing the family with a set of service recommendations based on the outcome of the clinical assessment.

Independent Support Broker:

  • Duties would include (but are not limited to) services which provide the family with assistance in:
    • securing any necessary assessments;
    • developing and implementing the service plan and budget;
    • monitoring services;
    • completing annual review of the service plan; and
    • coordinating with any other service and care plans.
