Medicaid Administrative Claiming (MAC)
Medicaid, a joint state-federal program, offers reimbursement for both the provision of eligible medical services, and for the cost of administrative activities that support the Medicaid program and the population it serves. The Medicaid Administrative Claiming (MAC) program uses a claiming methodology to draw-down federal funds also known as Federal Financial Participation (FFP), from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) for administrative activities. The FFP rate for administrative activities is 50%.
Through the MAC program, DODD, County Boards of DD and Councils of Government (COGs) can be reimbursed, in part, for certain administrative activities performed in support of the Medicaid-eligible population. The department recently met with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) and CMS regarding progress on approval of the MAC program. In response to feedback from these entities, the department is editing the MAC Guide to resubmit to ODJFS by the end of July. Once they review it, it will be sent to CMS for approval.
