Collaboration between County Boards, Police and Courts

Below is information on the July 8, 2009, Video Conference on County Board Collaboration with Police and Courts.

This training is from 9 a.m. to noon on July 8, 2009 at the JFS sites.

Participants will have opportunities to learn about how they can assist the courts in helping our population through the court process. Mike Kontura , Forensic Laison from Cuyahoga County will speak on how to be a resource to the court and how to educate courts. Then Monique Shaffer from the Columbus Police Dept. will speak on how to effectively work with law enforcement and what County Boards need to know. She will talk about how to establish and maintain relationships with law enforcement.


Vicki Jenkins, Associate General Counsel for the Ohio Dept. of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities will discuss what happens when an individual with mental retardation is not competent to stand trial and how to work with Forensic Monitors. Finally, Gregory Meyers, Chief Trial Counsel from the Ohio Public Defender Commission will talk on how to work with Criminal Defense Attorneys. The audience will get opportunities to ask questions. This confernce should not be missed.
